 The maps are perfect! They fit beautifully with what I am trying to accomplish.

 My customer base is 85% Residential.  Approximately 50% of my leads come from direct mail advertising.  The criteria for the mailing is broken down by zip code.  The dominant parameter being households with a combined income of over $70K.

 Over the last 6 years my direct mail response has been in decline.  The direct mail response is judged by the number of leads generated per thousand pieces of mail delivered.  Ideally this number is 10,  a response rate of 1%.  The national average is around .7% to .8%.  However,  in the last 2 years my DM Response has plummeted.  In 2001 it dropped to .5% and 2002 it continued to fall to .3%. Therefore,  to acquire the leads necessary to hit my targets I have been forced to dump large quantities of mail.  This of course has been costly and unproductive.

 Therefore,  in an effort to reduce my costs while still maintaining the same response,  I have decided to send mail based on carrier routes rather than zip codes.  By narrowing my mail drop to specific neighborhoods within a zip, I will be able to target and focus on market share rather than zip saturation.

 For example,  I sent 55,460 pieces of mail last year at a cost of $21,000. I received 177 leads.  Therefore,  my cost for a Direct Mail Lead was $118.64.  A national average is around $100 per Direct Mail Lead.  This of course makes for a very expensive tactic. My goal this year is to cut that cost by a third and still acquire the same number of leads.  There are other tactics that will be implemented, but the carrier route option is paramount.

 The product a company offers is only as good as the service it provides.
