Preventure’s International Fitness Club Network program is an important part of its strategy, getting more individuals into fitness programs and physically active.

But demonstrating the scope of Preventure’s nationwide network of fitness service providers can be a labor intensive task. “Companies sign with us because they want to offer fitness clubs that are in close proximity to their employee-base,” says Gilligan. “But some of our prospective clients have thousands of offices and are in all fifty states. To win new business, we need to show that our contracted fitness centers are close enough to be convenient to the majority of their employees.”
 
In the past that has meant taking a list of employee addresses and ZIP Codes provided by the prospect, manually comparing them to the ZIP codes of Preventure’s more then 8,000 providers, consulting ZIP code maps, and calculating the percentage of coverage by hand. “It could take days of work.”
 
Then Gilligan presented her problem to Maponics’ mapping consultants, and discovered a far better way. By assigning a latitude and longitude to each of Preventure’s contracted fitness providers and each of the prospect’s corporate locations, Maponics uses automated mapping software to determine the distance each employee would have to travel to reach a Preventure club. Using this information, Maponics provides a high impact report that allows Gilligan to see at a glance the percentage of employees with access to a Preventure club within a 10, 20, 30 and even 50 mile radius.
