Senior Account Executive

 

Maponics is looking for a Senior Account Executive who wants to make a big impact at a growing, profitable company focused in the GIS data space. This is an independent contributor role with a focus on closing large, profitable deals in the Real Estate, Local Search, Marketing and Government verticals. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a winning team and receive excellent compensation for excellent performance. This position reports to the Vice President Sales & Marketing and will be based primarily in our Norwich, VT headquarters. Main responsibilities include: prospecting and closing new business, maintaining and growing existing accounts and accurately updating progress in SFA software. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • New Business: proactively sell Maponics GIS location data to businesses with a focused strategy and “no excuses” attitude:
    • Research and target prime verticals and companies hunter mentality with ability to make daily outbound cold calls
    • Effectively move inbound leads to closure
    • Target the appropriate role within the organization
    • Responsible for entire sales cycle and closing profitable business  
  • Account Management:  dedicated customer service, such that you are the go-to person for this customer for all assistance including:
    • Consistently expanding our contact network within the company
    • Creating and executing on a plan for regularly probing their needs
    • Developing a “key facts” knowledge of these customers such as: organizational structure of enterprise; financial status; functional areas within their organization that feed into and out of the services we provide (dependencies)
    • Advocating customer needs to enhance internal product development initiatives
    • Attending customer-specific trade shows and/or customers with specific objectives

Expected Skills/Experience:

  • At least six (6) years of experience in a senior sales role selling high-tech products
  • Proven experience acquiring and growing accounts
  • Ability to document and communicate customer requirements to the production team
  • Excels within a start-up environment, requiring minimal-to-no hand holding
  • Experience with contact management tools and discipline to use them
  • Exceptional phone and writing skills
  • Proactive work ethic & proven sales skills
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • True concern for customer needs and listening skills to uncover the non-obvious
    experience within the GIS industry or solid knowledge of Real Estate, Local Search, Marketing or Government verticals a plus
  • Team player with the ability and willingness to share advanced sales knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree or above

Production Cartographer

The Production Cartographer will build, maintain and support the development and production activities for Maponics Spatial data products. This position reports to the Operations Manager.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Resource Acquisition & Assessment
    • Research various sources of spatial data available in the public sector
    • Procure qualified data for potential integration
    • Evaluate/assess various sources to determine and define subsequent data compilation efforts
  • Data Development Activities
    • Utilize GIS tools to build and enhance spatial and attribute data
    • Digitize new datasets, ensuring alignment, topology correctness
    • Update (maintain) existing data sets based on new resources
    • Recommend improved compilation procedures
  • Product Quality
    • Review and ensure product conformance with existing QA/QC standards
    • Update procedures to improve overall quality within the development process
    • Assist order fulfillment for various spatial map and data products
    • Assist the integration/analysis of various third-party spatial data including, but not limited to street, postal, census, demographic, customer data/graphics and imagery

Expected Skills/Experience:

  • Demonstrated project ownership ability
  • A minimum of 2 years mapping experience utilizing commercial GIS (MapInfo, ESRI) and data processing (FME) tools within a deadline-driven production operation
  • Commercial experience working with large GIS databases (such as TIGER, ZIP Codes demographics, street networks, etc)
  • Ability to document technical procedures and processes
  • Programming/Scripting experience (VB, MapBasic) is an added bonus
