Carrier Route Geoset Reports

Maponics can provide you with reports of carrier routes based on your market area.

If you are purchasing or selling marketing lists, you may only want to purchase or provide names of prospects that are completely within a geographic area.  While you may not need a map, you would need a list of which carrier routes or ZIP+4 codes were included, since many list providers rent or sell their data based on carrier route codes or ZIP+4.  Maponics can create the maps for you to pick out the carrier routes.  Or, using your territory descriptions, Maponics can provide an Excel list of the carrier routes inside - saving you the extra work.

Why is it better to use Carrier Route Geosets from maps instead of manually targeting areas?

The old way of targeting by carrier route involved a laborious method of finding address ranges in a USPS publication, looking of the carrier routes therein, then moving to the next address range, street by street.  Thanks to mapping - this process is so much easier.  Here’s why:

  • Speed, speed, speed. Time is money as they say and obtaining a carrier route geoset is much faster than spending your time and your clients’ money having you peer through large tomes of street addresses and postal carrier routes to determine which areas to target.  Maponics can quickly and easily create a map and/or accompanying carrier route geoset based on the income ranges, age ranges, or other demographics of an area in the time that it would take a person doing the old method just to locate the names of the streets in that area.
  • Using a carrier route geoset associated with a map allows for easier and more accurate (due to current street and postal data) radius mailings (customers who want to mail to people within 5 miles of their store location for instance) versus looking at local paper maps, writing down all the streets from tax maps or MapQuest near the customer’s location, and then looking up all the address ranges and carrier routes for those streets. A carrier route geoset and map will give you precisely all the carrier routes that fall within x miles of any location. And the accuracy applies just as well when the territory doesn’t follow a strict radius.  If you give us a list of highways, for example, we can quickly and affordably give you a list of the carrier routes involved.
  • You can narrow your mailing by locating those carrier route delivery areas (polygons) that are outside your target neighborhood and removing them from your mailing list. This problem can easily occur as many carrier routes are comprised of multiple delivery areas (morning and afternoon delivery routes for example). For instance, three of the four delivery areas for carrier route C004 are within your target area but the fourth delivery area, which contains 30% of the addresses, is a mile away from your target neighborhood .  Eliminating these addresses from your mailing will reduce your mailing costs and potentially increase your response rate.
  • Enhanced carrier route geosets are also available that include distances and delivery counts.
