Maponics Renews Partnership with HotPads

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. – Maponics announced today that they have renewed their partnership with HotPads®, an online rental and real estate search website. Under their agreement, HotPads will continue to integrate Maponics School Boundaries product into their online portal, which they have done since 2010.

HotPads was acquired by Zillow®, the leading real estate information marketplace, in 2012.

Zillow has been a Maponics School Boundaries customer since April 2012. They also license Maponics ZIP Code Boundaries, enabling users to filter property listings by ZIP Code.

When choosing a new home, many home buyers and renters are particularly concerned about school boundaries, wanting a clear answer to the critical question, “Where will my kids go to school?” Maponics School Boundaries product provides this information, identifying which school attendance zone is associated with a property. This enables HotPads users to optimize their search results by focusing on homes in areas served by the best schools at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

“Parents are understandably wary of purchasing a house that is serviced by a lower performing school. Maponics School Boundaries cover the highest number of the US student population: 82% of the total US student population and 85% of the US high school population are covered at the school attendance zone level, and 100% of US students are covered at the school district level.

Rather than using third-party data, Maponics develops school data in-house, enabling them to maintain high quality standards that data resellers or aggregators cannot achieve. For example, Maponics relies on precise production methods that are far more accurate than standard geocoding, a process that causes over 1,000 schools nationwide to be misrepresented outside their corresponding school attendance zone. In addition, Maponics locally sources data from over 10,000 school districts (and growing). This allows them to incorporate continuing, rolling updates into their quarterly releases, providing data about new, consolidated or closed schools before such information is included in publicly available sources.
