Is Austin, Texas, "the city of live music"? Some say so. To GIS enthusiasts, Austin also wins recognition as a city that makes great use of geotagging for venues and neighborhoods with its Austin Music Map.
Great Music Deserves to Be Documented
The Austin Music Map is an interactive website that invites music lovers to tag the venue and neighborhood where they attended a live music event, whether it's a marching band performing on a barge in the middle of the water or a family gospel group in church.
Participating in the Austin Music Map
To add to the map, just take a picture of a live event with your phone, shoot a video or go to the website and record a story about one of your favorite musical moments. Then tag your contribution with a hashtag and the neighborhood name, the venue or the ZIP Code. Your music memory will be captured in the site's playlists.
