In terms referring to things that make us worry that “big brother” is watching us, RFID refers to Radio-Frequency identification, and is the use of electro-magnetic fields to transfer data, for the purposes of automatically identifying and tracking tags attached to objects. It is often used in manufacturing to track production, but can also be attached to cash, clothing and possessions, which has raised privacy concerns. RFID can be paired with geofencing for additional uses.
Though alarming in the wrong hands, this technology has an endless number of uses and is completely safe with the right kind of regulations.
