Data most certainly has a shelf life and it’s shortening rapidly. At Maponics, we believe that great data must adapt to both the changing geography and the ever-changing needs of our user community. It must be accurate – it must come from a reliable source, and it must be current.
We also believe it’s extremely important to listen to our customers and to use their ideas and feedback to drive our product innovation. User suggestions take the guesswork out of determining what enhancements we will make to our products. It helps us make sure we are building the features our customers and partners truly need.
Why Quarterly Product Updates Are Important
The most recent update to Maponics® School Boundaries is a great reflection of how Maponics takes all of this into account. With our last quarterly update, Maponics has added increased school boundary coverage as well as several new enhancements and product attributes. Many of these enhancements were centered around a targeted focus on the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).
LAUDS is the second largest district in the nation, and enrolls more than 640,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade, at over 900 schools, and 187 public charter schools. Not only is this is one of the largest school districts in the nation; it is also not surprisingly one of the most active real estate markets. The school boundaries spread over 720 square miles and include the mega-city of Los Angeles as well as all or parts of 31 smaller municipalities plus several unincorporated sections of Southern California.
Concurrent with Maponics’ most recent quarterly update:
- Nearly school 200 points were added to the product
- Updates were made to reflect 187 school closings
- More than 95% of school points were rooftop validated
- Overall SAZ coverage reflects the 2015-2016 school year
Many of these updates were based directly from user suggestions, further illustrating that some the most innovative ideas come directly from our customer base.
How Current Is Your Data?
For any organization to properly harness the full power of location content, the data must be trusted. Accuracy and integrity are top of mind with each Maponics product update. For some data providers, responding to the most common question asked by CEOs and CTOs - 'How current is your Data?' - Is difficult if not impossible to answer. For us, it’s simple.
We understand that the periods of time in which businesses have to make their decisions – both major and minor – are shortening. Maponics data is used to provide insight. It’s used to help end-users improve the everyday decisions they make. When school boundary data (or any data for that matter) isn’t updated on a regular basis, data coverage and completeness is significantly less reliable.
Whether we are making improvements, adding product enhancements and attributes or introducing a completely new feature our quarterly releases continue to provide an important benefit to our customers.
