Web Designer/Developer Job Description

Maponics LLC improves search and discovery by serving the spatial data needs of real estate companies, direct marketers, and SoLoMo (Social, Local, and Mobile) companies. Located in White River Junction, Vermont, we work behind the scenes for many of the biggest brands in the world.

You will be responsible for developing databases and web services supporting these database as well as  creating user interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX for map-based web applications.


  • Experience building / developing user interfaces for high traffic websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and AJAX
  • Previous experience developing and modifying code applications using Java, J2EE, Spring, and Web Services
  • Experience performing cross-browser compatibility testing
  • Ability to provide significant input to user interface and look and feel functionality requirements
  • Experience in an agile environment
  • Develop and maintain our organizational Web sites consistent with our images and branding.
  • Develop and optimize existing features, as well as prototype and implement new features.
  • Resolve cross-browser layout issues and bugs
  • Adhere to web standards, usability and best practices
  • Continuous improvement to processes and practices with new ideas, concepts, methods and technologies
  • Oversee API, database and other systems used for web development as well as their continued updating and maintenance
  • Analyze and report Web site traffic statistics and search engine trends
  • Configure and deploy cloud based infrastructure for hosting software and databases     

Expected Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge of networking architecture and communications
  • Experience and high comfort level with Amazon Web Services
  • Expert understanding of HTML5, XML, CSS, node.js and JavaScript
  • Strong knowledge of Java for server side development
  • Experience with Agile development
  • Strategic thinker who is goal oriented; proven ability to conceptualize and methodically drive projects to completion
  • Self-motivated with great organization and time management skills with verifiable success in managing projects from inception to completion
  • Proven ability to find innovative solutions to problems, and articulate those solutions in a structured manner to senior management
  • In depth knowledge of GIS and Mapping industries is preferred, with a strong preference for candidates who bring knowledge of industry standard SDKs such as Leaflet, GoogleMaps, MapBox or OpenLayers to the table

Compensation Structure:

Salaried, exempt. Potential performance-based incentives.
