Other than working and sleeping, people in the United States spend more time shopping than almost anything else. Shopping has become a central part of our social lives. It is incorporated into everything from leisure time and social gatherings to family vacations. And with more than two thirds of the U.S. economy driven by consumer spending, shopping is an activity tied to prosperity and growth.
That is why Maponics has created the Shopping Boundaries dataset, which includes the geographic boundaries of more than 3,100 shopping malls, districts, centers and outlets across 125 metro areas in the United States and Canada. Unlike the data found on popular search engines and directories that only show shopping locations, Maponics Shopping Boundaries TM includes the boundary outlining shopping areas and adjacent parking, along with the name, address and type of shopping area. Compared to simple proximity-based ad targeting, Shopping Boundaries can be used as geofences to direct ads only to consumers who are within defined shopping areas. This dataset provides a missing piece of the location based advertising model—allowing precise targeting and increasing response rates, traffic and ROI.
Shopping Boundaries is available as a stand-alone product but can also be used alongside other Maponics products that define where people live, work and play. Taken together, Maponics product line offers a geographic data stack that includes vast coverage of social and administrative spaces that offer unique map views, provide location context, improve search results and ultimately, enhance the web and mobile user experience.
